read Oresteia Aeschylus ↠ 6 free read Oresteia free read ð PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB Meineck's translation is faithful and supple; the language employed is modern without betraying the grande. I have several translations of the Oresteia and purchased this one after listening to Peter Meineck s lecture series It is magnificent and I cannot recommend it highly enoughMeineck s translation brings the play to life in away that many others fail to do It is at once dynamic sensitive and true to the original Greek and this uality of translation can only be achieved by a person who has a genuine passion for the original play All other translations seem stilted in comparison There is also an excellent introduction by Helen Foley and insightful footnotes throughout the translationI would recommend this translation to anyone with an interest in studying Classical Greek Tragedy Theatre or Classical Athenian society Suitable for academic study at undergraduate level as a reference for those going on to post graduate studies and those with a love of Aeschylus playsThis book is coming on holiday with me
